Autonomous liveaboard boat for sale
A characterful 1989 Vulcain Bleu, designed for living aboard, cruising and taking time.
Essentials
ARGOS is not just a cold technical sheet. It is an unusual, bright French boat equipped for autonomy, with generous indoor and outdoor spaces. Its history, works and next maintenance milestones are presented clearly for serious buyers.
After reviewing the website, photos and technical documents, serious buyers with financial capacity can contact me for an individual discussion, then arrange a boat visit.
The price reflects ARGOS's practical value, equipment level, documented history and future works to anticipate, especially the major hull maintenance cycle planned around 2029.

History & collection
ARGOS belongs to the Vulcain Bleu family, rare French boats associated with the now-disappeared Brument yard. The wording remains cautious: the heritage aspect is highlighted, while definitive evidence stays in the historical file.
The boat cruised a remarkable European itinerary, including Martigues, Lyon, Dijon, Strasbourg, Berlin, Antwerp and Liege.
Between 2023 and 2024, ARGOS carried a European awareness project on male contraception and contraceptive equity.
Technical & maintenance
Cummins B3.9 diesel, approx. 80 hp, shaft drive and three-blade propeller. Around 8,500 engine hours since installation in 1989, exact meter reading to be checked at visit / sale stage, full service in late 2025 and alternator replaced in 2023.
650 L fresh water, filtered outside-water circuit for some sanitary uses, three 360 W solar panels, 560 Ah lithium bank, Victron SmartSolar, Sterling 80 A and Honda EU20i 2 kW generator.
ARGOS should be read as a characterful liveaboard, not as a standardized unit. The important points must be considered together: volumes, autonomy, equipment, maintenance history, completed works and upcoming technical choices. The file lets buyers arrive for a visit with a clear picture of the boat.
The public asking price of EUR 124,000 places ARGOS below a comparable Vulcain Bleu currently advertised around EUR 145,000, a gap of about EUR 21,000. In simple terms, that margin broadly matches the 2029 major maintenance envelope estimated at around EUR 15,000 to 20,000. Full budget details are available below in the Budget estimates PDF.
